India clinches gold in Trap Men Senior and Junior categories in Asian Shotgun Championship

Indian shooters have made the country proud by winning 2 gold medals on the final day of Asian Shotgun Championship in Kazakhstan .  The Indian team has finished their campaign with 2 Gold , 2 Silver and 3 Bronze medals. India won the Gold in Trap Men event in both senior and junior categories. The experienced trio of Manavjit Singh Sandhu,  Zoravar Singh Sandhu and Mansher Singh ensured the team Gold for India in senior category. All the 3 shooters performed remarkably well in the qualification round involving 32 other shooters and reached the final round of 6 shooters.  Manavjit claimed first place in the qualification with an Asian record score of  124 out of 125 , while Zarovar came 3rd (121) and Mansher came 5th(120). This feat ensured the team gold for India. But in the individual event, only Manavjit succeeded in winning a medal. He clinched the Bronze by defeating Al Faihan of Kuwait. The other 2 shooters could not progress to the medal rounds.

Junior Trap team of G.S.Sharan , Manavaditya Rathore and Mohammed Shees won India’s second gold during the day. India also got 2 individual medals in this event. G.S. Sharan won the Silver and Manavaditya the Bronze in individual category. In the Junior category, there were 15 shooters taking part in the competition and the medals were decided based on the scores in the qualification round.

Yesterday, female shooters had won the Silver in Trap Women team event. The Indian trio of Seema Tomar, Shagun Chowdhary and Shreyasi Singh came 2nd with a score of  200 to clinch the silver behind China (203) and ahead of Korea(196).

Indian shooters had also won the team bronze in Skeet Men Junior event.  The junior trio of Anantjeet Singh Naruka (113), Angadvir Singh Bajwa(112) and Hamza Sheikh(107) won the bronze with a total score of 332 out of 375.
