Aditya Mehta defeats Pankaj Advani to enter semis of Indian Open Snooker

Aditya Mehta created history by becoming the first Indian to reach the semifinals stage of a snooker world ranking event. It was either Aditya or Pankaj Advani who were destined to achieve this milestone as the two outstanding Indian cueists fought against each other in the quarterfinals. The former emerged victorious 4-3 in a nail biting contest that lasted for almost 4 hours. Pankaj took the first frame easily 29-70 and Aditya gave a fitting reply with a 70-0 win in the second one . Pankaj took the third frame 68-82  and Aditya took the next two at 58-43, 65-24 to lead 3-2.  The match was pushed to the 7th frame as Pankaj won the 6th frame 45-66 . Aditya swept the last one 72-0 to gain the semifinals berth. He will play against World No:5 Stephen Maguire of Scotland today.

In another quarterfinals World No:1 Neil Robertson was defeated by Ding Junhui(CHN). Ding will meet Robbie Williams in the other semifinals today.
