15 Indian archers to compete at Archery World Cup 2014 Stage 1 – Shanghai (CHN) from 23rd April

Indian team of 15 archers will be competing at the Archery World Cup 2014 Stage 1  which will begin at Shanghai , China from the 23rd of April. Indian contingent has some fresh faces as compared to the team of 2013, especially in Recurve Women’s team. Archery enthusiasts from all over the world will miss the presence of World No:3 Deepika Kumari, who failed to make the cut in the selection tournament, after losing to Lavanya Nomula, who eventually won the tournament to earn her first international cap. Deepika has been one of the most successful archers on the World Cup tour in recent times with three silvers in a row at Finals and five individual medals at stages in three years.

Recurve Women‘s team will comprise of Lavanya NomulaLaxmi Rani Majhi and Pranitha Vardhineni . Senior players like Deepika Kumari , Laishram Bomayala Devi and Dola BANERJEE, who failed to make it to this team, will most probably represent India in the World Cup stage 2 as a preparation for the upcoming Asian games.

Recurve Men‘s team will be formed by experienced set of Rahul BanerjeeJayanta Talukdar and Tarundeep Rai

Compound Women‘s team comprises of Jyothi Surekha VenamLily Chanu PaonamTrisha Deb and Gagandeep Kaur.

Compound Men‘s team will have Abhishek VermaRajat ChauhanJignas Chittibomma and Khayam Bahadur Chhetri .

The schedule of the tournament is as follows:

23rd Apr – Individual Ranking rounds and mixed team elimination rounds

24th Apr – Individual elimination rounds

25th Apr – Team elimination rounds

26th Apr – Compound Finals

27th Apr – Recurve Finals
